WHY WAS THE FANDOM GIVES & DISASTER RELIEF COMPILATION CREATED?
Just over a month ago, Ana Fluttersby alerted us to the catastrophe occurring in Nicaragua—three huge earthquakes and hundreds of aftershocks left people camping in their backyards, sleeping inside with open doors, or looking for shelter elsewhere—and asked her fandom friends for help. Almost immediately, Mina Rivera shared her own family’s personal story of loss from the fires in Valparaiso, Chile.We couldn't sit by and do nothing. When the going gets tough, the fandom reaches out to help our own! With organized relief efforts stretched thin, we decided to lend our hands, hearts, and words to help ease the victims’ suffering. With Born OnHalloween joining the effort and the ever-amazing Ysar building the structure of the Fandom Gives Blog behind the scenes, the Disaster Relief Compilation was created to aid those who are in need in both Nicaragua and Chile.
THIS IS NOT YOUR FATHER’S COMPILATION.
Two features set this compilation apart from others you may have previously participated in:
- We are hosting a raffle. Everyone who contributes to the fundraiser by donating money, items to be raffled, a story for the compilation, or signing up as a beta or banner artist will be eligible to win the generously donated prizes!
- We are writing a collaborative story called Tremble, which is open to ANYONE who wishes to help us give this story an ending by writing from 200 to 800 words. The first two chapters--a collab among the organizers of the compilation (Ana, Mina, and Born) are posted on fanfiction.net, while the remainder of the story will only be available by donating to the compilation.

WHAT ACTION CAN YOU TAKE TO HELP THE CAUSE?
- DONATE MONEY to one of the relief organizations that are posted on the blog. Several Red Cross organizations are taking donations. You can check out the list here.
- WRITE A STORY OR OUTTAKE for the compilation. All fandoms are welcomed to write, we are even accepting original fictions as well.
- OFFER YOUR SERVICES as beta editor or banner maker. We want all stories in this compilation to have a banner and be easy to read, so please don't hesitate to sign up or ask for this service if you are thinking of writing a story for the compilation.
- DONATE A RAFFLE ITEM. It can be books, gift cards, key chains, bookmarks, anything! We welcome any item you wish to donate.
