Hello everyone!
It turns out that I need one more week. The one-shot I'm writing for The Fandom Gives is giving me a headache, it's no flowing like I thought it would. I need to submit it in four days and I need to find someone to beta it too, it's going to be a long week for me.
So yeah, the update is going to take one more week. But in the mean time, I want to share a chapter teaser and also address something a lot of people are concerned about.
Let's start with the teaser. Ready? Here we go [this is unbetaed, please forgive any mistakes]:
Angela had already written Bella off as the modern day Cinderella, and was buzzing with excitement about their move to Roinne. Most of the time, Bella tried to ignore her, not that she wasn’t excited about their move as well—and maybe a little bit apprehensive too—but Angela just annoyed her to no end with all the possible and unrealistic scenarios she kept coming up when Bella would finally be reunited with Edward. Those scenarios got worse and more…err, mature when they found out they had to stay for a couple of days in Brume, waiting for their belongings to arrive.
The apartment they had secured through Tia was less than an hour away by car from the capital. It was close to campus, on the outskirts of Roinne and close to a train station so Angela could take the train back to Brume. Carmen was travelling with Bella to help get all their stuff to the apartment, since Angela couldn’t join them until after the 4th of July. Angela had a bunch of interviews and a workshop to attend, all part of the contest she had won. Bella had rented a van for the task and was looking forward to explore the city, but Angela wanted Bella to go the Cullen Tower as soon as they arrived and ask for an appointment with Edward, but Angela was delusional if she thought that Bella was going to do that in this lifetime.
I've had already embarrassed myself one too many times in front of the man, thank you very much.
Bella rolled over again and giggle, but suddenly stilled, feeling like something was off. She took a deep breath again and realized that there was definitely something missing in her room. She sat up, breathing in the scents of her bedroom, and that was when it hit her.
Her room smelled clean, as in cleaning products.
Now, Bella wasn’t by any means a slob, but her room had always had a distinct smell because of her art projects. It always carried a faint smell of paint, turpentine, linen and powder.
But she couldn’t smell any of it now.
Bella quickly scrambled out of her bed and went straight to her small supply closet next to her desk. When she opened it, she gasped and tears sprang onto her eyes.
It was empty.
Not a single bottle of paint in the entire closet.
The cans that were filled with brushes on the top shelf were also empty.
The half-finished canvases that she had laid out to dry the day before were also gone.
Bella quickly extracted her keychain from her bag, and then went back to the closet to unlock the hidden cabinet at the bottom. When she opened it, she sighed in relief when she saw all the rolls of paintings still intact. Bella had learned a long time ago to keep her finished paintings hidden and locked. More than once, Renee had either tossed them into the garbage or sold them to get some extra money for her stupid hobbies.
Still, the fact the rest of her closet was empty meant only one thing: Renee had tossed everything out.
Okay...now, about those concerns some of you have. In Chapter 9, two new characters were introduced: Lord Aro and Tanya, and I want to clear the air about them.
First of all, THEY ARE NOT THE BAD GUYS. Both Aro and Tanya are good people like I explained in the last chapter.
Second, Aro is loyal to the Cullens, has been for years, so don’t worry about him. I know a lot of you are concerned since canon Aro was all power hungry, but this Aro has experienced lost and therefore has been irrevocably changed by it. Keep in mind he has also been around for a long time, and even Edward is concerned about his health, which shows the level of familiarity between them.
Third, poor misunderstood Tanya. I know there is a LOT of preconceived hate towards her, but let me tell you something: the fact that Tanya is a career woman doesn't make her a cold hearted bitch. In fact, I seem to recall an modern royal couple that took a break, both focusing in their careers, only to get back together and marry. Honestly, it wasn't lack of love that made Tanya turn down Edward, she just wasn't ready. In this day and age, where women are raised to be more independent, it's kind of expected for a woman like Tanya to think twice before giving up everything she has accomplished for one man, even if that man was a prince!
In fact, I believe it said a lot about their relationship, how she could be so open about her fears and her goals with him. It also says a lot about Edward, who not only supported her decisions but also encouraged her to pursue them. That sounds like the type of relationship one would aspire to have. They certainly loved and trusted each other enough to be so open, and I also think that’s the reason why they kept their friendship. Remember that Edward values his privacy and there are few people with whom he can be himself, and Tanya is one of them.
Granted, Tanya might still harbors feelings towards Edward, but she knows she missed her chance. She isn't going to be all possessive psycho bitch, she is a lady, she has class. SO, DON'T JUDGE HER WITHOUT MEETING HER! You will know more about her in a future chapter, but there won’t be a love triangle. I PROMISE. I don’t do love triangles. I hope this has appeased some of you, and PLEASE keep an open mind. Tanya has done NOTHING to garner your hate. She only dated the guy for two years, give her some credit! LOL
